Official Press Release
Maplecrest Ford Lincoln of Union NJ Launches Second Round of Successful Student Cyber Café”
Maplecrest Ford Lincoln of Union New Jersey launches second round of their immensely successful Student Cyber Café. Student Cyber Café provides students a creative outlet and the opportunity to win prizes and gain recognition for their skills.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) - Dec 28, 2011 -
In an effort to promote continuous learning, Maplecrest Ford Lincoln of Union New Jersey has launched the second round of a planned series of contests for children and young adults between the ages of 8 and 16.
Entitled “Student Cyber Café’, the series of events will allow for contestants to submit writing projects such as essays, short stories, and poems on a wide range of topics such as “Mother Nature” and “Alternative Energy Sources”.
When asked about the beginnings of Student Cyber Café, Maribeth Woodford, Director of Business Development at Maplecrest Ford Lincoln states, “The majority of us these days are in the Social Media World; from “posting” to Tweeting”, to showing the world on YouTube. Creative thinking is expressed through text messaging symbols, clicking the “like” button and writing nothing longer than a 140-character tweet.”
She continues, “When you speak to kids from 8-16; they are far more educated and creative than I was in the 70’s and 80’s. Their ideas and thought process is astonishing and should be expressed in a place where hundreds or even thousands of people can read them. We just wanted to provide an outlet for their creativity.”
Steven Giordano, Owner of Maplecrest Ford Lincoln of Union New Jersey, has always had a passion for the creative arts. He states, “Like other art forms, writing is its own reward. The act of writing, like the act of painting, playing the piano or sculpting, brings joy and a sense of achievement for the participant, and then doubles its reward by producing something that others can appreciate-the poem, story, article or other work.”
Steven continues, “Children all have important values, and ideas. They are passionate about many things. Sometimes they feel their ideas can change the world and want to let others know how they can make a difference. The Maplecrest Student Cyber Café allows them to enjoy the benefits of expressing themselves through the art of writing with the added opportunity to win great prizes.”
The second contest in this successful program starts on January 1, 2012 and will continue until June 1, 2012. Maplecrest Ford Lincoln plans on continuing Student Cyber Café through the 2012 school year and beyond.
Maribeth states, “it is our hope that more schools come on board this time around. We had a tremendous response to this over the summer and would love to help school systems across the US promote creative arts in their respective school system.
